Hot Buttered Bourbon
I started this passion of mine one and a half years ago. In all of that time, I have not missed one week, until I was hacked! I guess there was something called a Malware virus that affected my blog and google. I was so worried that I had lost all of my content, but then remembered I had backed it all up, thanks to Morgan and P.J.. I really owe my thanks to Devin Brown, from Holland, Michigan. He is a technology wizard, and is working on updating my blog. I hope you all will continue on this journey with me for new and exciting recipes to come! I have always loved Hot Buttered Rum. I usually buy the mix for it, and fix with hot water and rum. I have been into Bourbon lately. I guess because it just really warms your heart more than rum. I came up with a perfect, homemade, buttery, full of cinnamon, brown sugar and nutmeg mixture, to go along with coffee and bourbon. Perfect for drinking on a cold Fall day by the fireplace. Pete and I love to have a fire here in Arizona starting usually around Halloween, but this year it was cooler earlier. We have two wood burning fireplaces outside, really there is nothing that smells better, or feels more cozy then sitting by the fire, and having a Hot Buttered Bourbon. The mixture for this warm your heart drink will keep in the refrigerator for two weeks. It’s the perfect drink to have on hand when unexpected guests arrive for the Holidays. Thanks to all of you that have been patient with me while my blog has been down. I love to hear from you, so please let me know what your favorite Holiday drink is, and maybe I can recreate it for you! Thanks for reading, Love, Stacey
Makes enough for two
1/2 cup hot black coffee for each cup
1/4 cup bourbon for each cup
piece of lime
2 Tbs turbinado sugar placed on a small plate
2 cinnamon sticks to stir with
Ingredients for the butter mixture:
3 Tbs softened salted butter
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
3 Tbs light Brown sugar
Rim both coffee cups with the lime and then dip rims into the turbinado sugar.
Mix butter mixture together and place half into the bottom of each coffee cup. Add hot black coffee and bourbon, stir and serve with cinnamon sticks. Sit by the fireside and be cozy!
